Christmas Gifts for the Children of Political Prisoners

The International Network in Solidarity with the Colombian Political Prisoners (INSPP) is collecting donations to buy holiday presents for children of Colombia’s political prisoners. (The Alliance for Global Justice is a part of the INSPP.) Many of these children are not only suffering the effects of having their parents taken from them, but they have also been displaced from their homes and plunged into poverty with the loss of their care-givers. This holiday season, please join with us in remembering these little ones. For US taxpayers, your contributions are deductible. Monies collected will be turned over to our Colombian partners in political prisoner solidarity, Lazos de Dignidad and Traspasa los Muros.

To make a donation by credit card, please click on this link, http://nicanet.org/?page_id=341 , and then mark the “Other” option at the bottom of the list on the left. Where it says “Enter Name”, type in: “Colombia Holiday Gifts” and then, below that, enter the dollar amount you want to contribute.

You can also send us a check or money order. Put “Colombia Holiday Gifts” in the memo line and make the check out to the Alliance for Global Justice. Send to:

The delegation will meet with labor unions, student groups, members of the political opposition and rural, indigenous and AfroColombian community members. We will investigate the US role in repression and war in Colombia and release a report on the human rights situation. We will be based in Bogotá, with trips to visit a cooperative farm, the infamous La Tramacúa prison in Valledupar, and to Barranquilla, on the Atlantic coast, to meet with peace and justice activists. The cost for the trip is $1,400, not including international airfare. The price does include all in-country transportation, meals and lodging, translation, and other materials and services associated with the delegation. Some scholarships and discounts may be available.
