Venezuela & ALBA News 6.16.2023: Iran’s President Visits Venezuela, Nicaragua, Cuba; Free Alex Saab conference, 3 Years of His Imprisonment

Iran President Raisi Visit to Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba
Orinoco Tribune: Iran and Venezuela Sign 25 Agreements in Caracas President Maduro on  Iran’s President Raisi visit, “This visit marks a new milestone in a relationship that has been built from the brotherhood, from the cooperation of two peoples, of two countries that were born to be brothers: the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela…. We have signed 25 agreements, new agreements, investments and oil projects. Petrochemicals, gas, mining, gold, and iron are other areas being considered.” They announced the goal of increasing the value of their bilateral trade to $10 billion.

Tortilla con Sal: Iran President in Nicaragua: Daniel Ortega “We pay tribute… to all the Heroes and Martyrs of Iran, and in particular to General Qasem Soleimani, who was assassinated by Yankee imperialism when he was fighting terrorism” “They [US] made the Panama Canal, but already now the Panama Canal, even taking into account its expansion, is really lacking, and another transit route is needed. That is why, when we have discussed the matter here in Nicaragua and we have worked to develop the Canal, immediately comes the campaign of the forces opposed to the Revolution, the US government and others, who start up their offensive to try and prevent that project from getting under way….Nicaragua has really been a country attacked like no other in Latin America and the Caribbean, by invasions of US troops, the United States Army, always seeking to dominate Nicaragua so as to have control of that Canal route. They see, they know that this Canal is necessary but they do not want the Nicaraguan people to own the Canal.”

Al Mayadeen: Iran President Raisi Meets with Cuban President Diaz Canel and Raul Castro In the friendly meeting, the leaders stressed the willingness of both Cuba and Iran to pursue strengthening relations of friendship and cooperation, as well as high-level political dialogue. This comes after the Iranian President met with his Cuban counterpart Miguel Diaz-Canel, earlier yesterday, after which Iran and Cuba signed 6 agreements in an effort to strengthen bilateral cooperation in different fields.

Conference on Alex Saab, Three Years of His Imprisonment
Ultima Noticias: President of National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez: What happened to Alex Saab was a vile kidnapping The National Assembly approved the Agreement in support of the immediate release of the Venezuelan diplomat.

Free Alex Saab: Hero of Cuba René González: Alex Saab defended the lives of Venezuelans “We have to ensure that he (Alex Saab) does not go through what we went through, we cannot allow him to go to trial, and we ask that all people join the campaign for his release. I ask that we mobilize in each of our countries, the largest number of people sign that declaration, request an audience at the consulates and deliver it there. Much remains to be done, but the main thing has been done; we have to bring it and have it here now,” González urged.

Orinoco Tribune: Alex Saab’s Illegal Detention Now 3 Years Camilla Fabri Saab, the diplomat’s wife, said in an interview with RNV that the kidnapping of Alex Saab was the icing on the cake in the series of aggressions by the US empire against the Venezuelan people. “I understood that the message was not only against Alex but against the entire Venezuelan people. The US was denying the right to food from the people going through a very difficult period with the pandemic and the sanctions. Alex risked everything to go on this mission to care for all the Venezuelan people.”
