Roger Waters, famous for both his solo work and his band, Pink Floyd, has issued the following video in solidarity with the Colombian people on this important voting day, and to support the demands for freedom of young activists rounded up as part of the cynically names “Plan Democracy”. Please watch and share this video and join Roger in calling for an end to the detentions and for free and fair elections.
Young activists are being detained just days before elections as part of the Ministry of Defense’ “Plan Democracy.” Many are saying that the plan is really an attempted “preemptive coup” to prevent a Center-Left victory, and to crush popular movements who might take to the streets in the event of massive fraud. Nine young people detained in Cali have declared a hunger strike until they are freed.
